Two weeks ago, we knew that something new was beginning to stir around the globe that had the potential of creating significant disruptions to our daily actions. Today, we find ourselves right in the middle of an outbreak of a fast-moving virus. COVID-19 has the potential of significantly affecting vulnerable persons while also disrupting and even damaging our economy and significantly impacting the lives of families and individuals. There's no doubt that once we come through this crisis, there will be a greater need for Oliver Gospel and the services of other homeless providers all over our country.

We are directly involved in daily collaborative calls headed up by the United Way of the Midlands. In these calls, over 30 different local service providers, medical professionals, city leaders, and DHEC are represented. We are also in contact with our National Association, City Gate, who is in direct contact with the White House. As our federal, state, and local leaders are working to communicate the most up-to-date information to us, our leadership is assimilating and listening to all current information and working as a team to make the best decisions for our clients, staff, and community.

Let us all be encouraged by Psalm 32:6-7. "Therefore, let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely, the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."

In light of the things that we see rising up around us, let's be faithful to be in prayer for one another, our national and local leaders. Let's pray for one another; our health, our safety, and peace of mind. Let's pray for those whom we're currently serving and the plethora of people across our nation who fear for their jobs. Many are already struggling with the simple but daunting task of providing for their families.

Let this time be a wake-up call and encouragement to all fellow Americans to stay calm, find someone to come alongside with and help them become united and strong in faith as we combat this great challenge TOGETHER with Christ, our hiding place and protector.

Grace and peace, Travis -Executive Director
