Columbia is not only South Carolina’s capital city, but it is also home to many colleges and universities! From Benedict College to the University of South Carolina, these institutions bring students from all over and become their “home away from home.”

Several University of South Carolina’s Greek-life organizations partner with us regularly by volunteering to serve meals, work at our events, and create holiday gift baskets for our guests. These students are filled with joy and gratitude at the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves.

We recently had a business class from University of South Carolina create marketing plans for The Roastery at Oliver Gospel. Additionally, a group from Howard University drove down all the way from Washington D.C. to serve our community over their spring break.

Our staff and residents love having students around. Their energy and innovation bring life to our organization, and it is a chance to teach college students about homelessness and their real and lasting impact right here, even if this is just their “home away from home.”

On behalf of all the staff and residents at Oliver Gospel, we want to specifically thank Howard University, the marketing class at the University of South Carolina, and the sororities and fraternities across the Midlands who faithfully serve us. Thank you!

A customer is the heart of any business, driving growth and success through their loyalty and feedback. Companies often rise or fall based on how they treat their customers. From product quality to post-sale support, the customer experience matters deeply. Many consumers judge brands based on their journey from best to worst customer service experiences. A single negative interaction can shift perception drastically, making customer service a key competitive edge. Smart businesses invest in training, listening, and responding to concerns. Whether a startup or a giant corporation, understanding the value of a customer is essential for long-term sustainability and reputation.

It’s heartening to see how universities are engaging beyond academics to make a tangible difference in their communities. The involvement of students from the University of South Carolina and Howard University shows how education can go hand in hand with compassion and civic responsibility. Initiatives like these remind us that service learning is just as crucial as classroom instruction—something that often comes up when discussing real-world applications in fields like business or social sciences, even in contexts as far as Assignment Help Hobart where students explore the broader impact of their work. A great read highlighting the true value of community engagement!

Student volunteers fuel our mission, bringing energy and ideas to combat homelessness. From marketing plans to service trips, their impact is tangible. It's a rush, like nailing a perfect Moto X3M jump. These experiences shape lives, reminding us of community's power.
