Who we are
Oliver Gospel, founded by Reverend Oliver in 1888, began its service to Columbia providing meals, shelter, and chapel services to those in desperate need. Over the years, our services have expanded to 24/7 emergency meals and shelter, addiction recovery, case management, counseling, and career and life skills development.
Oliver Gospels approach to addiction recovery starts with acknowledging that addiction is not the core problem. Addiction is a coping mechanism, an escape from what is really hindering an individual and stopping them from keeping a job and permanent housing.
Oliver Gospel strives to give our program residents and guests successful skills for employment. We do this by providing a training certificate for completing 40 hours of work at our Roastery or Thrift Store.
OG Works allows participants to gain real-world work experience they can add to resumes, applications, and interviews. More than anything, it gives them the self-confidence to present themselves as strong, dependable workers and to work hard once they are hired in future positions. They learn valuable skills such as customer service, food service management, and communication skills.
Addressing The Problem
The Men's Center provides emergency services and daily meals, as well as two long term development programs and an addiction recovery programs.
At Toby's Place we provide housing, counseling, and spiritual renewal for single women and women with children.
Every purchase from the Oliver Gospel Thrift Store is reinvested into transforming the lives of those experiencing homelessness right here in Columbia.
Oliver Gospel is freshly roasting it’s very own coffee! Every purchase goes 100% back into Oliver Gospel’s mission to serve those in need. In addition, we welcome you to join us for a cup of coffee, or a latte in the Roastery’s café.
